Football on the Norfolk Island is in a very early stage. This is shown by the fact that there isn´t even a own football association existing. All sports are organised by the Norfolk Island Amateur Sports & Commonwealth Games Association. But there is youth training for both boys and girls but nothing organised for adults. So football is rather seen as a recreational sport than a really competitive one. Main sports on the island are lawn bowls, netball and touch rugby. As part of the Commonwealth they do also compete in the correspondent multi-sports event as well as in the South Pacifc Games where they never fielded a football team. In 2001 the Norfolk Island was host of the South Pacific Mini Games, which are the games that contain a smaller schedule. Unfortunately football was not played, as the host probably wouldn´t have field a team anyway. It is very doubtfoul that the world will see a representative of the small island not far away from the Australian westcoast but even on the Norfolk Island interest grows slowly.
